Pirates Cove Marco Island

Marco Island with the dog

Most rentals on the island say no dogs. This one says yes. Here is what that actually means, and where to take them once you arrive.

At the house

  • Up to two non-shedding dogs under 30 pounds are welcome with approval before you book.
  • The home has tile and hard floors in the main living areas, so sand and paw prints wipe up easily.
  • The fully screened lanai lets the dog be outside with you without leaving the property.
  • Water bowls and old towels for wet dogs are in the garage.

House rules for dogs

  • Two non-shedding dogs under 30 pounds are allowed. No cats, please.
  • Please ask before booking and tell us a little about your dog. We consider small, non-shedding dogs under 30 pounds only with approval.
  • The $100 per-dog fee also applies to service animals, because it covers the deeper clean required for allergy-sensitive guests.
  • Marco Island has a leash law. Keep your dog on a leash whenever you are off the property.
  • Dogs are not allowed in the pool.
  • Please keep dogs off the furniture and beds.
  • Do not shut dogs inside the screened pool area.
  • Never leave a dog alone in the house without a crate.
  • Please clean up after your dog in the yard, by the seawall, and anywhere on the property.

Pet fees and cleaning

  • There is a non-refundable $100 pet fee per dog. This covers the deeper clean that keeps the house usable for guests with dog dander and hair allergies, and it applies to service animals for the same reason.
  • If we find pet hair on furniture or beds after your stay, extra cleaning charges will be deducted from your damage deposit hold.
  • If there is pet hair in the pool or inside the home at checkout, you will be charged an additional $350 cleaning fee plus any related damages.

Where to go

Mackle Park dog park

Fenced runs for large and small dogs, about a mile from the house. Shaded benches and water on site.

Tigertail Beach

PLACEHOLDER: verify current Marco Island beach dog rules before publishing. City beaches generally do not allow dogs, so the sandbar walk and nearby trails are the safer plan.

Sidewalk loops from the house

The cul-de-sac and neighboring streets make a flat, quiet two-mile loop. Best before 9am in summer, the pavement gets hot.

Patios that welcome dogs

PLACEHOLDER: list two or three current dog-friendly patios you recommend and check they still allow dogs.

Nearest vet

PLACEHOLDER: add the name, address and phone of the closest emergency vet.
