Frequently asked questions

Is the pool heated?

Yes. The saltwater pool is heated and faces south, so it holds sun most of the day. Let us know your dates and we will have it up to temperature before you arrive.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, with approval. We accept up to two non-shedding dogs under 30 pounds with a $100 pet fee per dog, and no cats. The fee covers the deeper clean that keeps the home comfortable for allergy-sensitive guests, and it applies to service animals for the same reason. There is a full page on traveling here with a dog.

Can we tie up a boat at the dock?

Yes. The dock sits on a quiet canal and guests regularly tie up a boat for the week. There is a small per-day fee for the dock and lift, and trailers cannot stay on the property. Tell us your boat's length and draft before booking and we will confirm the fit and arrange trailer storage.

How far is the beach?

Free public beach access is 1.5 miles away. South Beach and Tigertail are both about a five minute drive. The beach cart, chairs and umbrellas are in the garage.

What does booking direct save us?

The platform service fee, which usually runs about 14 to 16 percent of the total. The nightly rate is the same either way, so that fee is what you keep.

How quickly do Travis & Jaime reply?

Within an hour in almost every case. The house is owner-managed, so you are messaging the people who actually know it.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 10:00 a.m. The timing is strict so the house can be prepared for the next guests. Early check-in without approval is not possible because the house will not be ready, and arriving before 4 p.m. or leaving after 10 a.m. results in a $100 charge from the security deposit hold. Late check-out is sometimes possible for a small fee if you ask in advance.

Who can book the house?

The minimum age to rent is 30, and we may ask for ID. The primary renter must be present at the property for the entire reservation, and every adult 18 or over staying in the home completes and signs the rental agreement.

How many people can stay?

A maximum of 9 guests, excluding infants. The number of people at the property may not exceed the adults and children listed on your reservation.

What should we do when we arrive?

Walk through the house and let us know within 2 hours if anything appears damaged, needs repair, or needs cleaning. If we do not hear from you, we assume everything is in good condition. If anything breaks during your stay, tell us right away so we can assess it.

How does the security deposit hold work?

A $1,500 refundable hold is placed on your card at booking. It is a hold, not a charge, and it is released after check-out once we confirm there is no damage, no missing items, on-time check-in and check-out, and no extra cleaning beyond normal. City fines caused during a stay (noise, parking, trash cans) are also deducted from the hold.

What are the quiet hours?

Outdoor noise must be kept to an absolute minimum before 7 a.m. and after 8 p.m. Marco Island enforces this strictly and the fines are steep. The house is in a private residential community on a cul-de-sac, so we ask guests to treat the neighbors well. No parties or events.

Is there parking?

Yes, up to 4 cars on the property. Do not park on the road or block the sidewalk, as that violates city regulations and can mean a fine or a tow at your expense. The garage is used for the bikes, kayaks and beach gear rather than parking.

Who handles the trash cans?

Collection is Mondays and Thursdays. If your stay includes a collection day, we ask you to roll the cans out and have them back alongside the garage by 6 p.m. that day. If that is not possible, tell us and we will make other plans. Cans left out past 6 p.m. can draw a city fine, which comes out of the deposit hold.

Is the pool area safe for children?

The pool is heated to about 87 degrees and sits in a screened lanai, but there is no pool barrier and the home is waterfront, so children must be supervised at all times in the pool area, the yard, and especially the dock. Children under 12 should not be on the dock without an adult. No glass around the pool, and please keep children from picking at the pool tiles, as tile damage is charged for.

Can we bring a boat?

Yes, but tell us before booking so we can discuss your boat's size and draft. There is a per-day fee to use the dock and boat lift, and the city requires the boat to be docked along the house, not left in the driveway. Boat trailers are not allowed to remain on the property, but we can point you to trailer storage nearby.

Are there cameras at the house?

Yes. Security cameras are visible on the exterior only: the front door, garage door, boat dock, and the pool heater and AC units. They are there for safety, storm and maintenance monitoring, and to deter package theft. There are no cameras inside the home.

What is expected of us at check-out?

Wash the towels and beach towels and leave them in the dryer. Run the dishwasher and put dishes and cookware away in their marked places. Remove your leftover food, take the trash to the outside cans, return furniture to its original position, lock the doors and turn off the lights. Linens stay on the beds; the cleaning crew handles those.

Is there anything we should know about the house systems?

Please keep the AC at 72 degrees or above and heat at 74 or below, keep entrance doors closed, and do not set the thermostat to permanent hold. Use only detergent pods in the high-efficiency washer. The grill stays on its mat and should never be moved or left unattended; an extra propane tank is provided. One set of towels is provided per guest and there is no mid-stay maid service on stays under 7 days.

Is smoking allowed?

No smoking of any kind anywhere on the property, including the lanai, pool deck and dock. Evidence of smoking means the full deposit hold is forfeited.

Can we take photos or film at the house?

Personal photos are of course fine. Commercial photography or filming requires our written permission in advance, and parties and events are not permitted.

What if we lock ourselves out?

Keep your key code with you and lock the doors when you are out. If someone has to come let you in, there is a $50 fee. Do not lock the interior garage door when leaving.

What happens if something forces a cancellation on your side?

If circumstances beyond our control, such as severe damage to the property, make the home unavailable for your dates, we refund everything you have paid. That refund is the full extent of our liability in that situation.

Is the house good for young children?

Yes. Two pack-and-play cribs, a high chair, a bed rail, and a bin of toys, games and books are already here. The pool is screened and the street is a cul-de-sac.

How is the Wi-Fi?

PLACEHOLDER: add your actual download speed. Every bedroom has a TV with streaming.

What is the cancellation policy?

PLACEHOLDER: state your cancellation windows and refund amounts.

Which airport should we fly into?

Fort Myers (RSW) is the easiest, roughly an hour by car. Naples (APF) is closer but has far fewer flights.
